"There is no such thing as the "perfect swing". The perfect swing is the adjustment the hitter makes to the pitch he gets. As a result, it constantly changes."
                                                                            Mike Epstein

Hitting a baseball or softball is a funny thing, in that, most everybody involved in the sport has an opinion on the "right way" and the "wrong way" to hit. Although I believe there are "right ways" and "wrong ways", I like to think in terms of "effecient" and "ineffecient" ways.

In my thirty plus years playing and coaching baseball I have heard coaches constantly stressing:
  • stay on top, hit down and through the ball
  • hit the ball on the ground
  • just make contact
  • don't hit the ball in the air
  • don't try to hit homeruns

In other words all I hear is don't Hit Your Potential. The reason we hear all of these phrases is because the mechanics they teach are ineffecient. They will not allow a player to hit with power, so instead of changing their teaching they would rather have the player lower their goals to suit the technique they teach.

If you have been around the game you have probably heard some of these phrases and may have used some yourself, I know I have. Coaches are constantly telling our kids to swing down and through the ball, so they can hit the ball on the ground and keep it out of the air. Then when on defense they are telling their pitcher to get a ground ball. If the pitcher is trying to get a ground ball, why are they teaching their hitters to hit ground balls? Fact: 80% of all ground balls are outs.

Here at Hit Your Potential you will learn the rotational mechanics of 95% of all the great hitters. We strictly teach the Mike Epstein Teaching System. You will learn:

  • to have quick hands and maximum bat speed
  • to stay back
  • to stay inside of the ball
  • to hit with power to all fields

If your goal is to reach first base on an error then we are not for you, but if your goal is to drive the ball hard to all fields and have consistent power please click here for more information about what we teach.
